Alvin Buchanan

Mr. Alvin Lee Buchanan, 74 of Farmville passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2013 in Farmville.  He was born June 3, 1938 in Halifax County to the late Vinnie Warren and Elizabeth Rickman Buchanan.  Mr. Buchanan worked as a supervisor at the Craddock-Terry Shoe Corporation.
He is survived by his children; Terry Buchanan (Gwen) of Farmville and Judy Berry (Jimmy) of Mechanicsville, his grandchildren, Justin Emerson of Mechanicsville, Todd Buchanan of Rice and Megan Buchanan of Farmville; his brother, Bryant Buchanan (Barbara) of Chesterfield and his sister, Nancy Grover (Bill) of Berlin, NJ; his stepchildren, Betty, Patsy and Daphney Weaver all of Farmville and his great stepdaughter, Kelly Leslie (Chris) of Farmville and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his companion for 21 years, Dorothy Morris, her children, Gregg and Pam Morris, granddaughter, Holly and Earnie Hill, grandsons, Josh Morris and his two daughters, Ryley and Macie, Matt and Jessica Morris, Randi and Jay Bateman and his pride and joy Seth Morris.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 8, 2013 7:00pm at the chapel of Shorter Funeral Home.  A private interment will be held later.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association or to the American Heart Association.
