Chester Lane Jr. 88 of Richmond,VA formerly of Farmville, VA went home to be with the Lord on July 10, 2010. He was a WWII veteran who received the Purple Heart for his service in the Philippines. He passed away at the Maguire Veteran's Nursing Home. Born May 4, 1922 in Sevierville, TN He was the son of Chester and Malinda Lane. He was preceded in death by a son Dennis, sister Verna, sister-in-law Catherine. He leaves behind his wife of 66 years Polly, son Robert and his wife Shirley; two grandchildren and their spouses Dana and Bill Plowden, Robert and Jana Lane, six great grandchildren; Kaleigh and Leah Plowden, Brandon, Bobby, Brookelynn and Hayden Lane;two brothers Bill Lane and wife Leila, Earl Lane; a sister Ola Loveday and husband Amos; and his beloved poodle, Mitzi. He was a member of Worsham Baptist Church and Veteran's of Foreign Wars. He loved to play bingo, and he was an inspiration to all of the veterans and nurses at Maguire Veteran's Nursing Home. The family will receive friends Tuesday July 13, 2010 from 12:30 to 1:30 PM at the Shorter Funeral Home with graveside services to follow at 2:00 PM at Trinity Memorial Gardens Rice, Virginia "With Honors" The Shorter Funeral Home of Farmville, Virginia is serving the family
