Edith “Edie” Blanche Anderson, 73, of Farmville, Virginia, went to be with the LORD on December 23rd, 2024. Edie’s sweet, humble, and kind heart touched all who knew her, and her life was a beautiful reflection of her faith and devotion to others. Edie was born on February 18, 1951, in Clinton, South Carolina, to Rev. George Andrew and Mary Katharine Anderson. Growing up as the daughter of a Presbyterian minister, Edie was deeply rooted in her Christian faith from an early age. Her upbringing led her to know Christ as her personal Savior, and she lived her life wholeheartedly for the Lord. She grew up in Bristol, Tennessee, and graduated from Bristol Tennessee High School in 1969. She went on to attend Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia, where she focused on English, Education, and Bible, graduating in 1973. In the beginning of 1973, Edie married Roland Davis Gunn Jr., and together they had one child, Amelia Cameron. Edie later married Nabil Chaya in 2005, who lovingly survives her. Edie led a varied and meaningful career, holding positions as a medical assistant, insurance claims representative, and medical billing specialist. She also sold insurance, showcasing her dedication to helping others navigate life’s challenges. Beyond her professional roles, Edie poured her energy into teaching Sunday school at various times throughout her life, working with people of all ages and sharing her deep faith. She is preceded in death by her parents and her oldest brother, Andrew “Andy” Stephen Anderson. Edie was a devoted sister and is survived by her five other brothers and their families: Sidney “Sid” Ballard (Louise) Anderson of Barboursville, Virginia; Charles “Charlie” Collins (Suzanne) Anderson of Farmville, Virginia; Rev. Peter “Pete” William (Martha) Anderson of Dahlonega, Georgia; David Banister (Lily) Anderson of Cumming, Georgia; George Edward (Melanie) Anderson of Farmville, Virginia. Edie is also survived by her beloved daughter Amelia (Mark) Wehunt of Richmond, Virginia, and her cherished grandchildren, Philip and Libby, who brought her immense joy and pride. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly and always kept close to her heart. A woman of unwavering faith and a lifelong servant of others, Edie was a faithful member of High Bridge Presbyterian Church in Prospect, Virginia. Her love for others was evident in her thoughtful nature—always putting others first, asking how she could help, and never arriving without a gift in hand. Her humble, kind spirit touched all who knew her. Edie’s favorite Bible passage, Proverbs 3:5-6, served as a guide for her life: “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths” Her gentle spirit and servant’s heart leave a legacy of love and grace that will continue to inspire her family and friends.
