Hazel Allen

Hazel Allen, longtime resident of Farmville, VA, passed peacefully with her family on Monday, April 27, 2015. Hazel was a sweet, spunky lady. She enjoyed, more than anything, helping others. Even in her later years, it was always her goal to help someone else. Anytime you talked with her, she would tell you of her greatest joy-her grandchildren.

Hazel survived by her daughter, Diane and husband Melvin Crutchfield, her sister Pat and husband Jimmy Kennedy, her brother Cecil Williams, and lifetime friend and sister Fleta Motley. She was blessed with four grandchildren, Jamie Crutchfield, Ryan and wife Crystal Crutchfield, Melissa and husband Chris Baird, Sharron Crutchfield and Joey Ross. Her love cup overflowed with four great-grandchidren Lucas Crutchfield, Makayla Baird, Christopher Baird, Tyler Crutchfield and one great-granddog, Rocky. She was preceded in heaven by husband James Allen, brother William Williams, and sisters Helen Wade, Virginia Mann and Mary Frances Schmidt.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2015 3:00pm at Shorter Funeral Home with interment to follow at Worsham Baptist Church.  Family will receive friends on Thursday 1:30 to 3:00pm at the funeral home.
