Mrs. Hazel H. Shelton, 88 of Farmville passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at her residence.
She was born October 23, 1924 in Tennessee to the late Arvin Broadus and Laura Ledford Huskey. She worked as a hairdresser. She was the widow of Leonard Carl Shelton Sr.
She is survived by her children, Leonard Carl Shelton Jr. (Elizabeth) and Jean S. Wheeler (Parker); her siblings, Clarence and Kenneth Huskey, Beulah Sykes (Roy), Betty Roberts (Boyd) and Grace Loy; her 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and a special caretaker, Mary Sue Fitzgerald. She was preceded in death by her son, Leroy Shelton, daughter, Carolyn Mullens, siblings, James and Emert Huskey, her sister, Allene Buchanan, two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2013 2:00pm at the chapel of Shorter Funeral Home with interment in Trinity Memorial Gardens in Rice.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 6:00-8:00pm at the Shorter Funeral Home.
