Joseph Sweeney

Joseph James Sweeney, of Richmond, VA, passed away on July 27 with many
family members at his side. Joseph was born on May 30, 1916 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
He proudly served his country in World War II and was awarded The Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Pearl Sweeney of Richmond; daughters Shirley Gibson of Richmond and Jacqueline Cosner and husband, Russell of Richmond; grandchildren John Dagenhardt and wife, Missy of Midlothian, Traci Mir and husband, Robert of Richmond, and Shelley Justice and husband, Aaron of Richmond; great-grandchildren Noah, Emma
and Lucy.
A viewing will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, July 29, 2009, with services to follow at 2:00pm, both at Shorter Funeral Home in Farmville, VA. Burial will take place following the service at Amelia Veterans Cemetery.
