Julian Lee Hodges Sr., age 83, of Crewe Virginia, departed this life here on earth to be reunited with the Lord on Monday December 1, 2014, following a long battle with illness.
Mr. Hodges, or to those of us who loved him best, Morris, leaves behind his beautiful and devoted wife of 64 years, Bessie Marie Hodges, his siblings, Harry Hodges and his wife Annie, Nancy Caldwell, Marie Oakley, and her husband Sam, Margaret Long and her husband Rudy, and Brenda Coma and her husband Butch, his children, Julian Lee Hodges Jr., Gary Wayne Hodges and his wife Constance, James Edward Hodges and his wife Sarah, George Bradley Hodges and his wife Michelle, and Janet Leigh Nelson. As well as his twelve grandchildren Angel, Tammy, Jennifer, Jessika, Bradley, Greg, Steven, Jacob, Blair, Nicole, Megan four great grandchildren four great grandchildren Tamela, Steven, Jordon, Skylar as well as many close friends.
Born and raised the son of the late Semple George and Gracie Mae (Haley) Hodges on November 29 th , 1931. He was a long time resident of Crewe, Virginia.
Morris grew up farming and was a strong and able bodied young man when he began his lifelong career with Norfolk and Western Railroad at a young age. He quickly became one of hardest working men in the Railroad industry and worked faithfully as a freight/breakline conductor for 42 years until his well deserved retirement.
He had a passion for hunting, a past time he shared with his family and friends. He was also an amazing cook and a fantastic storyteller. Morris wore many hats, loving father, doting grandfather, devoted husband, and wonderful friend. He had the kind of heart that you warmed to quickly and never wished to be far from. Always ready to listen, always ready to help, and always quick with a joke, he brought smiles to the faces of friends and strangers alike.
Although we have lost an Angel here on Earth, we know that he is with the Lord in heaven and that with his pain now ended he can be free to watch over us and protect us in this life, until we meet again in the next. Julian Hodges was loved and will be missed dearly by all those who were fortunate enough to have known him or to call him family. Although it is never long enough the time we had will always be cherished and remembered with great love and affection.
