Kostantinos Gerasimos Spiratos

Kostantinos Gerasimos Spiratos age 79. He was born in Wilmington, NC on September 28, 1944 of Greek parents. Kathryn Giamarelo Spiratos, whose mother Anastasia was from Ithaca, Greece and father Gerasimos K. Spiratos who was from Cephalonia, Greece. Kostantinos was a member of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Wilmington, NC and attended Greek school through high school. He read “The Odyssey” and “The Illiad” in Greek as a student. Played clarinet in high school band, football and basketball. B.A. degree Economics, minors in Math, chemistry, biology, captain debate team. MBA at GSU. 

He was Food and Beverage Director, Holiday Inn Convention Center, Atlanta Georgia. Innkeeper (General Manager) Holiday Inns Atlanta, Georgia, Professional Photographer, Certified Scuba Diver (P.A.D.I. and YMCA). Dived Mexico, Bahamas, Florida Keys. He was Instrument rated private pilot, sailed solo Intercostal Waterway and Bahamas. He traveled to Europe, Mexico, Hawaii, Canada and 39 states in USA. He was fluent in Greek and Spanish and was a Partner/Manager of Golden Corral, Farmville, VA. He attended Pisgah Baptist Church in Rice, VA.

Kostantinos is survived by his loving wife Doris Manning Spiratos, Stepchildren; Lisa Doss, Anthony Doss, Michelle Doss, Jessica Crenshaw, Robert Manning, Jennifer Crenshaw, cousins; Peter Spiliotis, of Charlotte NC, Georgia Spiliotis of Wilmington, NC, Godson, Anthony Megas of Jacksonville, FL and numerous grandchildren. 

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 6:00PM – 8:00PM at Shorter Funeral Home. A funeral service will be Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at 11:00 AM in Pisgah Baptist Church with interment to follow in the cemetery. Shorter Funeral Home is serving the family. Shorterfuneralhome.com.
