LACEY, Margaret Whipple, long time resident of Laceyville, PA, age 94, passed away on her 74th wedding anniversary, August 29, 2011 at the home of her son, Pastor Frank Lacey of Farmville, VA. Margaret was born September 5, 1916 and was preceded in death by her husband, Rev Robert Frank Lacey; parents, Lacey and Emma Smith Whipple; two sons, Dan Lacey and Jim Lacey; one sister, Betty Whipple Van Etten; and a brother, Lester Whipple. Survivors include two sons, Chuck Lacey and Frank Lacey; four daughters, Marion Lacey Bowers, Charlotte Lacey Sawyer, Ruth Lacey Brotzman, and Betty Lacey Beacham Reed; two sisters, Phyllis Whipple Nolan and Shirley Whipple Brotzman and a brother, Clarence Whipple; 23 grand children; 51 great grand children, 2 great-great grand children and numerous other cherished family members and friends. Margaret was a pastor's wife for 28 years before her husband died in 1965. At the age of 50 she became a missionary nurse working in five different African countries until she retired from ministry in Nigeria at the age of 80. Riverside Community Church (Sunchase Cinema ) Farmville, Virginia. The family will receive friends at the Lacey Home in Farmville immediately following church services. A Memorial Celebration will also be held at Braintrim Baptist Church, 2:00 PM Sunday September 11, 2011, in Laceyville, PA. The Shorter Funeral Home of Farmville, VA is serving the family.
