Michael Walker

Michael Anthony Walker, of Cumberland, passed away, surrounded by his family and friends, on April 25, 2016 at 5:29am.  He was 20 years old.

Michael is survived by his mom and dad, Melissa and Neal French, father, John Walker, Utah, and sisters, Kamen, Brittin, and McKenna Beckstrand, Utah;grandparents Mary Alice Seamster, Lucille Walker and Hugh and Anita French, many uncles, aunts and cousins.  He is preceded in death by grandfathers, Jerry Seamster and Butch Walker.

Michael was born on December 14, 1995 in West Jordan, Utah, to Melissa French.  He attended school In Prince Edward and completed his education in Cumberland.    Michael then took a year to prepare himself for a higher education by working at Food Lion in Powhatan and enrolled at Ferrum beginning with the Fall Semester in 2015.  It was a perfect fit for Michael; he was working towards  a degree in Biology or Environmental Science, and the mountains of Franklin County were a favourite of Michael's.  While at Ferrum, Michael was also able to enjoy Greek life, the soccer and cross country teams and continued to make close and meaningful relastionships with his peers.  Michael was happiest when surrounded by people and especially when there was a game of soccer to be played,  Only two things surpassed his love of people and soccer - his family and the love he had for our Heavenly Father.  He had an extremely close relationship with his mom.  Michael was active  for many years in the youth program at his church and assisted whenever possible and planned for an extensive mission trip after college.

Michael's wonderful smile and warm,  loving personality and love for life will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Visitation followed be a memorial serviceare scheduled to begin at 10:ooam at New Life Church, 9 Mahan road , Farmvilly with a lunch reception follow at the church.  Graveside will follow at Grove Cemetery in Cumberland.  All are are welcome to attend and celebrate Michael's life.  Condolences can be sent to 671 French's Store Rd., Cumberland, VA 23040.  The family gratefully requests no flowers, but would appreciate your kind words or a donation towards Michael's expenses.
