Rachel Chapman Lietzke
FARMVILLE, VA. - Rachel Chapman Lietzke, 91, residing at The Woodland in Farmville, VA, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, July 7, 2010. She was born on Jan. 9, 1919, in Alexander County, NC, daughter of the late Fannie and Charles Reese.
Rachel graduated from Valparaiso University with a degree in English and Biology. She was a devoted wife, mother, public school teacher, Sunday school teacher, Bible study leader and prison ministry worker. She was also a founding member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Newport News.
In retirement, Rachel, with her husband Don, moved to Nellysford, VA, and became an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church and an avid gardener.
Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Don, to whom she was married for 63 years. She is survived by her son, Timothy Allen Lietzke of Keysville, VA; daughter, Donna L. Sexton-Cook of Murrells Inlet, SC; and granddaughter, Sarah Chapman Sexton of Murrells Inlet, SC, in whose life she played an integral role. Services will be private with interment in Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News, VA.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Early Childhood Education Center Scholarship Fund and mailed to Bethany ECEC, 100 Maple Ave., Waynesboro, VA 22980.
