Roland Shelly Harris Jr. “Red” formerly of Norfolk, VA passed away on February 13, 2017 at his home in Farmville, VA.
He was born in Newport R.I. on March 12, 1936, the son of the late Roland S. Harris and Louise Young Harris.
He is survived by his wife Rosemary E. Harris, his children; son, Roland S. Harris III, Terry Murry, Billy Woodbeck, LeRoy D. Ottersberg, Blanch E. Ottersberg (Kevin Phillips), Mary Ann Ottersberg, 2 granddaughters; Kylie McSheffrey, Brandi Ottersberg, one great grandson Jace Kolp, brothers; Robert Harris (Carolyn), Michael Harris, Galen Harris (Pat), Kenneth Harris, Neil Harris, sisters; Sandra Neal, Deborah Simmons, Eugenia Wildey, Rosalyn Greenauer and many nieces and nephews and friends. And his dearest friends Joe Eubanks (Janet), John Floyd and all his golfing associates.
He was preceded in death by his brothers; Paul Lane, Harris’s; George, Albert, Charles, Richard, Maurice and one sister Noreen Bukavina.
He worked 25 years as a maintenance engineer for a major hotel company. He was a former member of the Odd Fellows, Charity Lodge 10 D.O.K.K. Temple #228 and Stonehouse Golf Association.
He loved to golf and go and watch the NASCAR races.

A graveside funeral will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 1:00PM in Buckingham Community Cemetery at Buckingham Court House, VA.
Family will receive friends on Friday, February 17, 2017 from 6:00PM – 8:00PM at Shorter Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Dementia and Alzheimer’s organizations.
